Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

150g butter

150g soft brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 egg

200g plain flour

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

1/2 level tsp salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips or chocolate rice

Method:

1.  Sift flour with salt and bicarbonate of soda.

2.  Cream butter with sugar till light and fluffy.  Add in the egg and the vanilla essence.  Continue creaming till light.

3.  Fold in the sifted flour and chocolate chips and mix well.

4.  Drop mixture in little mounds on greased baking trays.

5.  Bake in preheated oven at 170 deg C for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch.

    May I ask what is the purpose of using “bi carbonate of soda” in biscuit-making?

    What will the result be if the product is not used?

    May I enquire how do you fold in flour for your choc chips cookie? Is it the same folding in method for cake?

  5. nice recipe…rose…

    p/s: bicarbonate soda…aka…baking soda….use for rise up the product and make the cookies look more darker….if you omit it….the cookie might look pale….tat my 2 cents…^_^
